"To love and serve our neighbors as ourselves."

For many neighbors in Central Pennsylvania—more than we often realize—the winter months, especially after the holiday season ends, bring uncertainty, stress, and even depression. These families are facing this winter wondering how they’ll afford basic necessities like housing, food, electricity, heat, and medical care. With the price of heating oil expected to rise, this year’s stress is deeper.

The need for your donations this time of year is greater than ever. Let us not forget about our neighbors in need just because the holiday giving season has ended.

Support for our Emergency Financial Assistance (EFA) program funds a variety of community members' unexpected needs--from emergency heating fuel deliveries to medications and medical equipment to clothing and other individualized needs.

EFA donations also support the Martha & Mary House, where your neighbors can turn for emergency shelter during these cold months. This emergency shelter resource is critical, not only to the safety of those without shelter, but also to their health, as exposure to severe winter temperatures can be deadly.

Generous donations to Catholic Charities make it possible to fulfill nearly 6,000 requests every year to help cover basic necessities, most often for working individuals and families who just can’t make ends meet. Many more are just a small crisis away from needing your help.

With a gift from you this winter, we can continue to serve your neighbors in need. Catholic Charities welcomes and supports all people in need, regardless of their faith or religion. As a donor, you change lives every day through the work of our caring staff.

Your generosity allows families to keep their homes or afford rent, provides food or medication, and keeps utilities running through the cold winter months.

Please show your compassion again this holiday season by making a tax-deductible gift to Catholic Charities and changing the life of someone in your community. Every gift to Catholic Charities makes a difference to someone who desperately needs help.
