"To love and serve our neighbors as ourselves."

You can, by joining the Guild of Guardians.

Your contributions can:

- Help 3 or more families with a one-time 100-gallon emergency heating fuel delivery to survive just one month of our cold PA winter.

- Help 4 disabled people living on Social Security disability payments (averaging only $755.10 per month) and living in subsidized housing with an eviction notice for $250.00 each.

- Help provide 2 shirts, 2 pairs of pants, and new shoes for 17 homeless neighbors living in The Martha & Mary House to start a job for approximately $58 dollars each.

Your donation could help neighbors like these keep access to safe, affordable housing. If they are evicted and have to pay market rental prices (averaging $555 per month without utilities), they would most likely enter a cycle of homelessness because they would be unable to afford the open market prices.

The Guild of Guardians giving society was created to enable community members like you to make a bigger impact on Catholic Charities’ efforts to fight poverty on a local level. Guild of Guardians members commit $1,000 annually, and can make monthly or quarterly payments toward their pledge. Membership is open to individuals, families, and groups within our parish. Catholic Charities relies on generous support from our parishioners to keep our doors open to those in need, and to provide them with help and hope.

The Guild of Guardians program helps Catholic Charities build a stable source of funding. Knowing that Guild of Guardians donations will be coming in each year allows us to confidently serve our community. This special giving society also allows our neighbors in need to know that we are in the position to provide help when they need it, and it allows us to help meet unanticipated needs in the community as they arise.

Our challenge to you today: We need two new members of the Guild of Guardians from every parish to continue lending a helping hand to neighbors in financial distress.

These Guild of Guardians members can be individuals, or you and fellow parishioners can pool together and commit to membership as a “group” for the year in the parish’s name.

To become a member, you or your group can pledge the following:

  • $83.34 per month OR
  • $250 per quarter OR
  • $500 bi-annually OR
  • $1,000 one-time payment

Can you and your fellow parishioners join together to form a group at this giving level and follow in the example of Christ’s love? Learn more about the Guild of Guardians here.
